Rotherham manager Alan Stubbs has admitted that he was initially hesitant about pairing Dominic Ball and Dael Fry together in defence.

Rotherham United have experienced a turbulent start to their 2016/17 Championship campaign, with just one league win in 11 games. Despite this, there have been a few bright sparks as well as signs that they have the ability to be higher up in the table. One of those positives is the partnership between Dominic Ball and Dael Fry which has seen the Millers’ performances improve substantially. As reported by The Star, manager Alan Stubbs admitted he was initially hesitant about pairing them together in defence.
The games in which Ball & Fry have been together have both seen losses for Rotherham, but they were close to grabbing a draw in both encounters.
“I was a bit reluctant, from an experience point of view – they are two young lads in a very tough division – to put them together,” Stubbs confessed.

“There’s certainly room for improvement with them. They’re a new partnership. But I have to say they’ve coped really well.”
The two young defenders are aged just 21 and 19, however their determination and hunger to succeed cancels out their inexperience at this level.
They will certainly need to be on form in the Millers’ next game which sees them travel to Carrow Road to face in-form Norwich City.
