It has been a disastrous start to the Championship season for Rotherham United as they currently find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table after 11 games.
Last weekend’s defeat at the hands of Newcastle United only served to heap more pressure onto manager Alan Stubbs as the club have just one league win to their name.
As reported by The Star, Stubbs is keen to prove Rafa Benitez right about comments the Spaniard made following the game at the weekend.
The Newcastle boss stated that the Millers are too strong as a team to remain in the position they are for too long, and Stubbs took great comfort in hearing that.
“It’s great that someone as experienced as Rafa, who has won what’s he won, has said that,” he said. “We know we should be higher, but the fact of the matter is we’re not.”

“Certainly our last two performances are not of a team in the position we’re in. “If we keep performing like we’ve done – and there’s no reason why we won’t – then I have to say it won’t be long before we’re picking up not just points but maximum points.”
Something that Rotherham fans can take comfort in is that once you get some momentum going in the Championship there is no limit as to where it can take you, and the international break is the perfect opportunity for the team to re-group and think of a new strategy.
When they return things will not get any easier, with trips to high-flyers Norwich City and Birmingham City on the horizon.
