The Rangers midfielder has not always been first pick during Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox reign.

Ross McCrorie has insisted he has improved despite not having featured as frequently as he would have liked under Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
McCrorie established himself in Rangers’ first-team plans at the start of last season but has not always been first pick during Gerrard’s Ibrox reign.
But in quotes published by the Scottish Sun, the 21-year-old has claimed that he is nonetheless 10 times the player he was in his early Gers career – and sought to remove any lingering ambiguity surrounding his position on the pitch.
“Not getting a chance recently is part and parcel of football,” he said. “I trust the Rangers manager (Gerrard) and we’ll see what happens.
“I feel as if I’m developing really well though. I feel I’m a far better player than I was last season and at the start of the season, especially with the run of games I played.
“I feel like I’m 10 times the player I was.
“I’m also definitely a midfielder now! I feel I’ve improved massively.

“I feel more natural in midfield and I’m a more rounded player. I’ve improved near enough every aspect of my game.
“That’s partly because of playing and also because I’ve been putting the extra work in at training. I’ve been doing the wee extra bits with the coaches and in the gym.
“I’ve been brought up to always work hard. I’ll talk to the coaches but it’s mostly down to watching clips.
“If you want to improve as a player it’s up to yourself.”
McCrorie began life as a central defender but has played most of his first-team football for Rangers as a screen for the back four.

His is a position in which the Gers are not short of options, with Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara, Graham Dorrans, Greg Docherty and Jordan Rossiter all under contract at Ibrox beyond the end of this season.
Should McCrorie have played more for Rangers under Gerrard?
