Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have signed eight players this summer.

Rangers defender Ross McCrorie has revealed to the club’s TV channel that he hopes that Bruno Alves’s vast experience can rub off on him and his young team-mates.

The Portugal centre-back was Rangers’ first of eight summer signings so far but is currently on international duty with his country in the Confederations Cup.

Given his pedigree, the 35-year-old, who has looked excellent in the competition, represents quite a coup for Gers boss Pedro Caixinha, who has also signed his compatriots Fabio Cardoso, Dalcio and Daniel Canedias.

And 19-year-old McCrorie is hoping to learn from the former Porto man as he eyes a first-team spot under Caixinha next season.

He told Rangers TV: “He has got a whole wealth of experience and he has played at the top level. He played in the Confederations Cup and started for Portugal.

“He will bring great experience with him and hopefully he can pass that down to us.

“Right now I am looking to push my way in and hopefully I can keep performing in training and impress the manager. I will just wait for my chance and hopefully I can take it. We will see what happens.”

The young defender is highly rated at Ibrox and signed a new contract in December, before spending the second half of last season on loan at Dumbarton.

But right-back Myles Beerman has been given chances to impress under the Portuguese boss, and McCrorie will be hoping to receive similar moments to shine next term.
