Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has made a strong start to life at Ibrox.

Rangers talent Ross McCrorie has told The Scottish Sun that he doesn’t think he’ll get much praise in his holding midfield role – but he’s just fine with that if he’s playing well.
The Gers overhauled their squad this summer with 15 signings and 24 departures, with the side barely recognisable from the one seen under Pedro Caixinha and Graeme Murty last season.
One player who got his break in the Caixinha though was youngster McCrorie, with Caixinha deploying him at centre back whilst touting him as one of Scottish football’s top young talents.
McCrorie far from disgraced himself in the heart of the Rangers midfield, but new boss Gerrard has decided to take the Scot away from that role and into holding midfield.
In the early stages of the summer, McCrorie appeared to be Gerrard’s first-choice defensive midfielder, but the return of Ryan Jack has seen him sit on the periphery of the side in recent weeks.
McCrorie is just 20, so has plenty of time to figure out whether he’s a centre back or holding midfielder for the long term, but Gerrard currently wants to use the 6ft 3in talent as an anchor man.

Now, McCrorie has told The Scottish Sun that he feels Gerrard has helped him a lot in terms of adapting to play a midfield role, believing that Gerrard sees his long-term future there.
McCrorie did though add that he thinks he won’t receive much praise for protecting the back four when attacking players will grab the headlines, but he’s more than happy to play that role as long as his performances are strong.
“The new gaffer at Rangers has come in and helped me a lot. He played all three midfield positions so he and Gary Mac have been great,” said McCrorie. “The position I play is more deep-lying so I won’t get as much credit probably. I won’t get as many plaudits as the attackers or the guys scoring the goals, but I’m fine with that as long as I’m playing well,” he added.
