Sunderland should make a loan move for Ross McCormack of Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
According to The Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are prepared to take a financial hit to sell Ross McCormack, while The Sunderland Echo has claimed that Sunderland are in desperate need of strikers.
So what about a loan deal between the two clubs?
McCormack has struggled to make an impact at Villa, and it is clear that the Scotland international striker does not have a future at Villa Park under manager Steve Bruce.
The former Leeds United and Rangers striker had a loan spell at Melbourne City in the A-League last season, and there is no reason why a similar deal between Villa and Sunderland could not be struck for the 2018-19 campaign.
Of course, leaving for the Championship for League One was a step down for McCormack, but so was moving to the A-League in Australia.
Sunderland could do with a proven and quality striker like McCormack, who has been a success in English football and has extensive experience.
Moving to Sunderland and scoring goals in League One would revitalise McCormack’s career, and he could fire Sunderland back to the Championship.
True, wages will be an issue, but Villa, Sunderland and McCormack could find a solution to that if they all are keen on making the best of a bad situation.
