Aston Villa-owned Ross McCormack has been quoted as saying by A-league.com.au that he wants to remain longer at Melbourne City.

McCormack is currently on loan at A-League club City from Villa in the Championship in England.

The 31-year-old striker was signed in September as a replacement for injured captain Bruno Fornaroli.

The former Leeds United and Fulham star has played well for Warren Joyce’s side so far and recently scored against Wellington Phoenix with a great free kick.

McCormack has said that he would like to remain at the A-League side for longer than originally scheduled.

The Scotland international striker has also stated that if he is not able to stay at City, then he will look for a loan move elsewhere.

“I’m not thinking about going back to Aston Villa just yet,” McCormack is quoted as saying by A-league.com.au.

“It’s no secret it’s not worked out there [Villa]. We’ll see if there’s anything that can be done.

“If I can stay here or I can go somewhere else on loan to play some more games or leave permanently.”

Villa are doing well without McCormack at the moment and are in the running for the Championship playoffs.

The 31-year-old, who is a very good and capable player, failed to make an impact at Villa Park when he had the chance to, and it is hard to see the former Rangers striker work his way into Steve Bruce’s side’s team.

It would make sense for McCormack to remain at Melbourne City or find another club where he can play regularly.
