Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack has scored just four goals since moving to the Midlands side.

Ross McCormack has admitted to Fox Sports that his time at Aston Villa was a disaster.

McCormack joined Villa in 2016, but never found his top form at Villa Park – and has now been shipped out on loan to Melbourne City.

The Scottish international is under pressure to prove that he still has what it takes to score goals in Australia.

And McCormack says that his time at Villa so far has been nothing short of a disaster.

“It’s been a disaster,” McCormack said.

“There’s no two ways about it. I scored four goals and played something like 25 games.

“If you look at the five years before that I was averaging over 50 games a season and probably over 20 goals.

“I think most players have a dip in their careers, hopefully that was mine.”

Whether McCormack could break back into Villa’s team, if he does impress on loan, remains to be seen.

Bruce seems to have reservations over using the former Leeds United and Cardiff City striker, who has previously been prolific at Championship level.

In total, McCormack made 24 appearances for Villa – but he only managed to score four goals during that period of time.

McCormack has joined a Melbourne City side, who go into the new season as the third favourites to win the league.
