Aston Villa attacking midfielder Ross Barkley has raved about Ollie Watkins, as quoted in The Guardian.

Barkley, who joined Villa on loan from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, has said that some of his teammates at the Villans have been surprised by the striker.

The 24-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, joined the Villans from Championship club Brentford in the summer transfer window.

According to WhoScored, the striker has scored three goals and provided one assist in four Premier League games for Dean Smith’s side so far this campaign.

Barkley has scored two goals in two league appearances for Villa this campaign, according to WhoScored.

The attacking midfilelder told The Guardian about Watkins: “I heard even before I arrived that a few of the lads were surprised by just how good he is.”

Making an immediate impact

Watkins has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water and has hit the ground running for Villa.

It is not always easy for players coming from the Championship to make the transition to the Premier League, but the 24-year-old does not seem to have had any problem with that.

For Villa to have a successful season and to finish in the top 10 of the Premier League table, Watkins will have to be on top of his game.
