Leeds United right-back Lewie Coyle has starred on loan with League One side Fleetwood Town this term.
Fleetwood Town boss and former Leeds United manager Uwe Rosler has told the Blackpool Gazette that loanee Lewie Coyle is so far set to remain at Highbury this month.
Thomas Christiansen told the Yorkshire Evening Post last week that he would discuss the possibility of recalling Coyle this month with director of football Victor Orta, following Luke Ayling’s ankle surgery: “We will have to talk to Victor.”
The 22-year-old has impressed with the Trawlermen, but could now be set to return to Leeds with a clause remining in the academy product’s contract that will force him to return to Elland Road – if activated this month.
Rosler was quizzed about the future of season-long loanee Coyle, and replied abruptly by stating that “we have not heard anything” over the possible recall of the young Englishman.
Wearing Fleetwood’s number two shirt, Coyle has become somewhat of an attacking force in Fleetwood’s side this season. Making 22 appearances in all competitions, the first-choice right-back has created five goals for his temporary side.
Leeds currently have Gaetano Berardi as the club’s first-choice right-back, while new signing Laurens De Bock is expected to replace Berardi on the left. But Christiansen may want to add cover on the right side of defence by recalling Coyle.
