To catch Patrick Reed in Dubai over the next two days, Rory McIlroy must significantly improve his performance.
Reed is the man leading the way by one shot, and there is a significant gap between him and McIlroy, with seven strokes separating them as they prepare for the final 36 holes.
The 35-year-old American spoke about how well his game has been coming together in Dubai this week after finishing up his second round on Friday.
The pressure will be on McIlroy to try and cut into that lead on Saturday, but if Reed keeps up his current form, it is going to be a tough task for Rory.
Does the Northern Irishman still believe he can win in Dubai this week?
Rory McIlroy comments on whether he can catch Patrick Reed at the Dubai Desert Classic

It has been a slow start for Rory McIlroy this week in Dubai.
His form did pick up with a 69 in the second round, an improvement on his opening 73.
But if he is going to contend, another big step forward is likely needed on Saturday.
Asked about his chances of catching Patrick Reed over the weekend, McIlroy stayed positive, referencing previous comebacks.
“It’s up there. I think I came from ten behind a couple years ago to win. I think I’m seven back at the minute,” the Northern Irishman said.
“Yeah, if I go out there tomorrow, maybe in slightly better conditions in the morning and post a low one, then I’ll be right in the mix come Sunday.”
No one doubts that McIlroy has what it takes to make up ground on Reed.
The question now is whether he can string together two strong rounds over the final stretch to get himself into contention.
Rory McIlroy shares thoughts on his form during the Dubai Desert Classic
McIlroy has not looked at his sharpest in Dubai so far this week.
Still, there are signs that he is not far off finding some rhythm.
“I thought the game, like the long game clicked a little bit better today,” he commented.
“I hit a lot better iron shots. I think just I had a lot of putts that looked like they were going to go in but didn’t.
“I feel like I gave myself plenty of opportunities, and I didn’t take maybe as many as I wanted to. But I’m sure everyone in the field feels that way, as well.
“But I have a tee time tomorrow, and hopefully shoot a good one and get right back in contention.”
If he is going to close the gap on Reed over the weekend, McIlroy will need every part of his game working.
