Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed in his press conference this morning that the attacking quartet would be included in this weekend’s squad.
When Manchester United demolished Arsenal 8-2 at Old Trafford in August- it was largely thanks to four players.
Wayne Rooney grabbed a hat-trick, Ashley Young helped himself to a spectacular brace, Nani also scored and tormented the Arsenal defence and Tom Cleverley was superb in midfield.
A week later Cleverley was injured at Bolton and only played one game since.
It is still a bit of a long shot to expect him to start on Sunday, but the fact he is in the squad is a great boost for Manchester United.
Wayne Rooney and Nani both featured in the recent 2-1 win over Arsenal, but both picked up injuries which kept them out of United’s game against Stoke in midweek.
Rooney should be expected to start this weekend, he like Nani will aim to replicate the form he was in when Chelsea were defeated 3-1 at Old Trafford in September.
Both players scored in that game, Nani’s strike was spectacular, but both have gone onto have inconsistent seasons since.
Nani should also start, but Ashley Young, the fourth returnee, should settle for a place on the bench.
Young’s form was really tailing off after a dazzling start, so he needs to prove himself all over again to United fans.
He could come off the bench and be the difference maker, and the news is the last thing Chelsea want to hear, already bracing themselves for the in-form Antonio Valencia without Ashley Cole who is suspended.
– Which of the quartet do you think will start on Sunday? Who will have an impact?
