Alfredo Morelos finally bagged his 100th goal for Rangers on Sunday afternoon.

The Colombian marksman had been sitting on 99 for quite a few games.

Morelos’s standard of performance had also dropped for Rangers as of late and it was unknown how long it would take him to reach the milestone.

But the South American hitman fired home the Gers’ second goal in a 2-1 win away to St Mirren yesterday.

And although Kemar Roofe – who scored the Ibrox club’s first – claims that none of the Rangers players knew about the achievement in real time, they gave their teammate a round of applause in the dressing room after the game.

He told The Scottish Sun: “We didn’t realise it was his 100th goal for the club till we were told after the game. Everyone was pleased for him and gave him a round of applause and it’s a special moment for him. It’s a massive achievement, especially at a club like this. To be able to score 100 goals for Rangers is special, it really is.”

No rest

Morelos, a £1 million signing under Pedro Caixinha in 2017, has been a remarkable goalscorer for the light Blues these past four years.

He reached the 100-goal mark in 199 games, giving him a record of scoring once every two games on average, more or less.

As Roofe said, it really is a ‘massive achievement’ but one that doesn’t entitle the player to put the head down again.

Consistency has been Morelos’s biggest problem in recent seasons and really, he probably could’ve reached this record in far fewer appearances.

The Rangers star won’t be in Glasgow to know what it feels like to hit 200, but he must give 100 percent everytime that he wears the shirt and if he does that, someone of his calibre will still score a hell of a lot more goals before leaving Scotland.
