Speaking on the Super Six Podcast, Kemar Roofe has shared what Steven Gerrard told the Rangers squad immediately after winning the league title.

Once the celebrations had died down and the staff had let their hangovers subside, the squad had to go back to training, and despite the fact they’d achieved their goal this season, Gerrard made it known that the job wasn’t done.

The gaffer immediately outlined his plans over the next few years, claiming that the team needs to win the double and the treble in the coming years.

“Yeah it is, as soon as we won the league, the next training session that’s what the gaffer said in the meeting. He said this is just the beginning, this is the start. Don’t even think about trying to think you’ve done it all or you don’t need to keep going. This is the start, with this momentum. We need to keep going, we need to keep building, we need to win the double, win the treble, we need to go far in the Europa League, get into the Champions League, go far in the Champions League,” Roofe said.

This is exactly the type of mentality you need to have if you’re a manager at the top level.

Gerrard knows what it takes to be a winner. After all, he was an incredibly decorated player during his time at Liverpool, and that’s the sort of mentality he’s looking to pass on to his team.

It seems to have sunk in as well, as Roofe has relayed exactly what Gerrard has told the team.

Time will only tell whether or not the Glasgow outfit will be able to meet Gerrard’s goals.
