Leeds United attacker Kemar Roofe has called on his teammates on Twitter to “carry the momentum” into Friday night’s clash against Aston Villa at Elland Road.
The Whites come into the game after beating Yorkshire rivals Barnsley last Saturday, as goals from Samu Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski helped Thomas Christiansen’s side earn a comfortable 2-0 win at Oakwell.
Now, Leeds face another difficult challenge but will be looking to produce a repeat of the same fixture that saw Leeds beat Villa on home soil 2-0 last time – with Roofe opening the scoring before Chris Wood scored late on.
Former West Bromwich Albion forward Roofe described the win against Barnsley as a “good result” and wants more of the same against Steve Bruce’s in-form side, who have won their last three matches.
The 24-year-old has been in excellent form for the Whites this season, but has been in and out of the side under Christiansen as the Spanish manager works out what works best.
Leeds’ number seven has scored six goals as well as adding three assists for the promotion hopefuls and will be hoping he can start against Villa in order to continue his red-hot form.
Three points for the Whites would see them climb into sixth place in the Championship table, if they can overturn a goal difference deficit of three goals with Derby on eight and Leeds on five.
