Ronnie Whelan says that James McCarthy has no future at Everton. He should consider moving to Newcastle if there’s an offer on the table.

Former Liverpool defender and now football pundit, Ronnie Whelan, says that James McCarthy has no future at Everton.
The 26-year-old has made only seven league starts this season, and has been a peripheral figure in Ronald Koeman’s side.
Whelan says that McCarthy has “no real decision” to make if he gets an offer from Newcastle United.
“James McCarthy has no real decision to make if Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez wants him and Mike Ashley pays the fee,” wrote Whelan for Independent.ie.

He adds that McCarthy has no future at Everton, and that the upcoming transfer window is going to be massive for the Irish midfielder.
McCarthy enjoyed a good season for the Toffees in 2013/14, but recurrent injuries began to take a toll on his regular appearances for the side.
Whelan believes that McCarthy won’t get a better club than Everton and he may choose to stick with it.
However, should he be allowed to leave the club, he must move to Tyneside and take a chance to revive his career with the Magpies.
“Realistically, McCarthy won’t get a better club than Everton so he may choose to stick it out and hope that Koeman moves on,” he added.
“Failing that, why not take a punt on Newcastle and make a pitch for the kind of reverence which the Toon delivers for its heroes?”
Newcastle United are reportedly interested in singing McCarthy as Rafael Benitez primarily wants players with Premier League experience to reshape his squad.
According to reports from The Daily Mail, the Republic of Ireland international is eager to leave Goodison Park this summer.
The Magpies could face tough competition for McCarthy from other Premier League clubs, with the likes of Crystal Palace, Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland all reportedly keen to sign him.
