Everton manager Rafael Benitez wants to bring former Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon to Goodison Park, according to The Sun.
What’s the story?
The Sun are reporting that Everton manager Benitez is closely monitoring the situation of Rondon.
The 31-year-old Venezuela international striker worked with the Spaniard at Newcastle and then at Dalian Professional in the Chinese Super League.
Rondon could now reportedly leave Dalian amid uncertainty and could become a free transfer.
If that happens, then Everton are ready to make their move, although other clubs in the Premier League are also keen on the former West Bromwich Albion man.

Would Rondon make Everton better?
Benitez knows Rondon well, and the former Newcastle manager must feel that the striker – who won the Copa Venezuela with Aragua in 2008 and the Russian Premier League with Zenit in 2015 – still has something to offer.
The Venezuelan has made a total of 140 appearances in the Premier League in his career so far, scoring 35 goals in the process.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored 16 goals in the Premier League for Everton last season and found the back of the net 13 times in the league in 2019-20.
However, Everton cannot rely on the England international striker all the time, and a back-up such as Rondon would be a good signing, especially on a free transfer.
