Leeds United’s Luke Ayling was victimised by a ‘nutmeg’ on Sunday.

You will see the word ‘nutmeg’ used quite a lot during the festive period, given that the spice is used in everything from scented Christmas candles to mulled wine.
But Leeds United’s Luke Ayling is seeing it being used in an entirely different context at the moment.
The Leeds right-back suffered the indignity of being ‘nutmegged’ by Yannick Bolasie during the Whites’ 3-2 win at Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
To add insult to injury, Marcelo Bielsa’s side were trailing 2-0 when Bolasie skillfully rolled the ball through Ayling’s legs and set up a chance for the Villans.
Ayling, who wound up being on the winning side, has seen the funny side, but his former Leeds team-mate Ronaldo Vieira is making sure he doesn’t forget it too soon.
Kemar Roofe’s last-minute winner represented the perfect Christmas present for Leeds and their legion of supporters, with Bielsa’s side moving back to the top of the Championship
The Whites have a six-point cushion in the automatic promotion places, but there can be no let-up.
United still have three more Championship games between now and January 1. Nine points is the goal and if that materialises, their hopes of ending a 15-year exit from the Premier League will surely come true by May.
