The 18-year-old’s strike was his first for the club and speaking to BBC Radio Leeds after the game Vieira could not hide his delight:

“I just though I’m going to hit it, just went for it. I’m happy for the goal. It’s good to celebrate with fantastic support. It felt like we were at home.

“Feels good to score a goal for this great club. The things this team is doing, in such a short time with all the new staff and new players, it’s been fantastic to be a part of this group.

“It’s just amazing.”

Leeds had to do it the hard way and it looked as though Norwich had snatched a point with Kyle Lafferty’s goal late in the game. But Vieira told BBC Radio Leeds that his manager Garry Monk never had any doubt that Leeds could still get the win:

“We just never really gave up. The gaffer always tells us the attitude of this team is unbelievable. If it was another team then their heads would have just gone down. The gaffer said, as soon they scored, he just started clapping and telling us to keep going and happily we got the goal.”

There is no doubt that this Leeds team is playing with more confidence than they have under recent managers. The emergence of talents such as Vieira under Monk has been a big boost for Leeds as well and fans will be hoping he can pop up with a few more important goals between now and the end of the season.
