Leeds United suffered a disappointing defeat in the Championship as they were beaten 3-1 away at Brentford.
Ronaldo Vieira has taken to Twitter in the wake of Leeds’ defeat to Brentford on Saturday and insisted that the Whites plan to fight until the very end.
Thomas Christiansen’s men were beaten 3-1 away at Griffin Park. And while the two winning goals came late on for the home side, Brentford were in control for much of the contest, hitting the bar twice in the second-half and missing a first-half penalty when the score was 1-0.
Leeds looked as if they may get away with a point as Gjanni Alioski capitalised on a goalkeeper error – one which was incredibly similar to the first-half clanger from Andy Lonergan that allowed Neal Maupay to break the deadlock – and, at one stage, there was just the slightest hint that the Whites could come away with the winner.
However, that momentum was quickly snuffed out as Brentford wrapped the game up in the final minutes to leave Leeds tenth in the table heading into the international break.
The manner of the defeat and the fact that losing has become an all too familiar feeling for Leeds lately has meant that much of the early season optimism has disappeared.
The pressure is starting to build on Christiansen and the players, from the fans at least, so Vieira’s message on social media may have helped diffuse the situation slightly.
While some supporters felt that the message was hollow given how repetitive the last few weeks have been, Vieira has urged everyone to stick together as Leeds try and get themselves back towards the automatic-promotion spots that they occupied for much of the early weeks of the campaign.
