Ronaldo Vieira handed Leeds United fans a major boost at the start of the summer by signing a new contract at Elland Road.
Ronaldo Vieira has told Radio Yorkshire that his new contract at Leeds came as a big surprise to him, but insisted that he did not need to think twice about putting pen to paper.
Vieira became the focal point of the first notable piece of business that Andrea Radrizzani oversaw as full owner of the Whites, with the club confirming on their official website at the time that the young midfielder had signed a new four-year deal at Elland Road.

While the deal has been followed up with several signings since, it would hardly be a surprise if in years to come, the contract is looked back upon as a major deal for Leeds given the 18-year-old’s potential.
And Vieira has admitted that despite his brilliant first full year in the Whites first-team, the club’s desire to tie him down to fresh terms took him by surprise.
“I was excited for it, I didn’t have to think twice really, I just took it.”

As mentioned, while there have been a number of new signings through the doors this summer, getting Vieira to sign a contract that is set to keep him at Leeds until 2021 is perhaps the smartest deal the club may do during this window.
The teenager was often exceptional last season, and it would have hardly been a surprise if Leeds had to field offers from Premier League clubs – so getting a deal done certainly sends out a great statement.
