The young Leeds United midfielder has been struggling recently.
Lee Gregory of Millwall and Ronaldo Vieira of Leeds United
Last season it looked like Leeds United had a real gem on their hands in the form of Ronaldo Vieira. Athletic, robust and technically gifted he was being tipped for the top almost as soon as he made a place in the Leeds United line-up a regular occurrence.
This season he was meant to just continue where he left off, but that has simply not been the case.
Vieira has struggled to maintain that progression and has looked stagnant in the Leeds United team in recent weeks.
Britt Assombalonga of Middlesbrough holds off a challenge from Ronaldo Vieira of Leeds United
Complacent on the ball, tepid in the tackle and off the pace – this is not the Vieira that Leeds fans remember bursting onto the scene. In fact, many Leeds fans have expressed such concern regarding his development in recent weeks.
It is easy to believe that Vieira is just having a blip. He is only 19-years-old and such stages are too be expected. He will surely still make it at Leeds, right?
Alex Mowatt of Oxford scores a penalty
Well look no further for an example of how it can quickly go wrong than Alex Mowatt. He was named the Leeds United player of the year back in 2015 and had Premier League clubs circling around him.
But his talent only got him so far. He suddenly stood still and ended up being flogged for pittance to Barnsley in 2017 and was swiftly loaned out to Oxford United in the summer.
Vieira must continue to improve, or find himself similarly cast aside.
