Leeds United moved into the playoff positions on Saturday.

Ronaldo Vieira has told Leeds United’s official website it is imperative that he and his team-mates remain grounded amid the club’s fine run of form.

The 18-year-old opened his account for Leeds in timely fashion on Saturday.

Vieira, an academy product, drilled home a last-minute winner in the 3-2 victory at Norwich City at the weekend.

The win was enough to take United into the playoff spots and things are looking very good for Leeds – who won only one of their first six Championship games – at the moment, but bigger tests lie ahead.

Garry Monk’s side have two weeks to prepare for the visit of Newcastle United on Sunday week, as the Magpies, who sit top of the Championship, travel to Elland Road in search of an eighth successive league victory.

It represents an excellent chance for the Whites to show just how far they have come under Monk, but Vieira tells the club’s official website that the playing staff must not get carried away by their surge in form.

“Everyone is buzzing with the win, the atmosphere is different now to what it was, we must not get ahead of ourselves though because there is a long way to go,” he said.

“We have to keep level headed, we all know what we want to achieve, but we have some tough fixtures coming up.

“We have two weeks to prepare ourselves for Newcastle now, the gaffer will input some new ideas and things we need to work on to be ready.”

Indeed, Monk and co have been excellent in recent weeks, but a couple of bad defeats and they could be back to square one, though the former Swansea boss seems wise enough to know of the pitfalls involved in getting carried away with things.
