There are worse players to model your game on than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford celebrates scoring their first goal with fans
Despite being just 11 years old when Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United in 2009, Marcus Rashford cites the European Champion and three-time Ballon d’Or winner as his biggest inspiration growing up.
A part of the Manchester United academy since the age of seven, Rashford is set to make his first start of the season as Manchester United take on Feynoord in Rotterdam this Thursday.
Speaking to Inside United ahead the Europa League clash, Rashford revealed that “when Cristiano Ronaldo came to United, he was the one who everyone looked up to.
“The thing that impressed me the most was the fact he was only young when he came into the side and he wanted to be the best player in the side.
“He worked hard every single day, you saw him in the gym every single day and the results came on the pitch. He openly wanted to be the best player in the world.”
After impressing with a fearless display against arch-rivals Manchester City on Saturday, Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, revealed it was Rashford’s “personality,” and not just his ability, that has put him in serious contention for a starting berth this season.

Personality is definitely something that three-time Champions League winner Ronaldo has never lacked, and it was the Real Madrid forward’s single-mindedness that Rashford attributes to his success.
“You have to have an approach like that – all the best players in the world do. It’s not arrogance or anything like that, it’s the mindset you need to achieve things.”
Rashford will no doubt be looking to adopt the same approach as Ronaldo as he looks to cement his place in Mourinho’s side, and United fans will be hoping Rashford can contribute even a fraction of the goals achieved by his Portuguese hero.
