Southampton get their Europa League campaign underway this evening, as they face Czech Republic side Sparta Prague at St Mary’s Stadium.

Of course they go into the game without the manager who led them to qualification for the competition in the first place.

Ronald Koeman guided Saints to qualification through a brilliant Premier League campaign last term but this summer he left.

The Dutchman decided to take on the vacant role at Everton, who had sacked Roberto Martinez at the end of the previous season.

It was a move that baffled many, considering the impact he was having on the South-Coast.

Despite his move, which appears to be going well at present, Koeman will no doubt still have a soft spot for Southampton and the players which he led so well last term.

So he felt he had to take to Twitter today to say good luck to Southampton as they embark on their European adventure:

Many Saints fans will rightly tell Koeman to do one, after the way in which he left the club.

Others will forever appreciate his efforts and remember the good times from his time at St Mary’s.

Hopefully Southampton’s players can do their current boss Claude Puel proud.
