Should Everton make a move for Chelsea striker Diego Costa in the summer transfer window?

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has suggested to Sky Sports that he is open to signing Diego Costa from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Costa is one of the best strikers in the world, but the Spain international’s future is wrapped up in uncertainty at the moment.

The 28-year-old is not part of manager Antonio Conte’s squad and is in Brazil at the moment, as reported by The Daily Mail.

According to The Independent, Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Costa, but the Spanish club would not be able to register Costa until January due to a transfer ban on them.

It has been reported that Atletico are ready to pay just over £40 million as transfer fee in order to sign the player they sold to Chelsea in the summer of 2014 for a fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £32m.

Everton manager Koeman has suggested that he could make a move for the striker in the summer transfer window, but on loan.

As reported by Sky Sports, when asked whether further signings would would be “permanent or temporary”, the Dutchman said: “Is this about Costa?

“Of course you like to sign players for the future, but if you can get the best one that way, then why not? That’s for six months, the season, two years.

“It’s difficult because it needs to be a quality player, or a young player who can develop or improve.

“We have the possibility maybe to sign good players, but we don’t play in the Champions League – and that sometimes makes things very difficult.”

Costa scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in 35 Premier League appearances for Chelsea last season.
