Everton defeated AFC Bournemouth 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Oumar Niasse not only scored two goals that led Everton to a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, but those goals could also revive his career at the Merseyside club.
It was a massive win for the Toffees. The pressure was already mounting on Koeman, after a poor start to the campaign.
One could sense the frustration when Bournemouth took the lead. Niasse came off the bench after 55 minutes, and turned the game on its head with two quick goals, and earned a vital win at Goodison.
Niasse joined Everton for £13.5 million from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2016, according to The Liverpool Echo, but didn’t feature in Koeman’s first team plans last season, and was sent on loan to Hull City.
Koeman is happy with his performance and hailed him “incredible”. The 57-year-old believes that Niasse has more to offer.
The Dutchman explained that the departure of Lukaku and Everton’s failure to sign a striker has opened up an opportunity for Niasse to be closer to the first team.
And the 27-year-old did make the full use of the opportunity. Koeman said that his aggression and direct play can create a lot of problems for others.
“Oumar was incredible,” said Koeman, as quoted by The Liverpool Echo. “He came on and it was better for Dominic (Calvert-Lewin) to have somebody around him.
“The boy has the kind of qualities when we are struggling, with his aggression and his direct play, he can create a lot of problems.
“For the first goal, he won the ball defensively, he made the one-two and it was a great goal. Nobody can stop him at the moment. He did well and all credit to the player.”
