Everton were beaten 3-2 by Watford in their most recent outing.
Ronald Koeman has told the Daily Mail that he believes it was ‘strange’ how his Everton side handed the initiative back to Watford during their most recent match.
Everton had taken the lead at Vicarage Road when Romelu Lukaku scored in the early stages, and it looked as if the Toffees were in a commanding position.
However, Everton completely took their foot off the gas, and Watford made them pay.
The Hornets scored twice through Stefano Okaka, before Sebastian Prodl added a third.
Although Lukaku did pull a goal back late on for the Toffees it was not enough for Koeman’s side, and the Dutch boss was left scratching his head at full-time.
“It’s strange,” he said. “It’s sometimes difficult to understand what happened. Why? Why we lost the control in the game? Why we gave the belief to Watford who, until that time, were nervous and not good? That’s my question.”
Everton fans were angered by their side’s display at full-time, and they were booed off by their travelling supporters.
The Toffees have now once just once in their last 11 matches across all competitions, with the pressure building on Koeman.
Everton are now in ninth place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against Arsenal on Tuesday evening.
