Ronald Koeman has backed Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech to join Everton.

Former Everton boss Ronald Koeman has told Ziggo (29/01/2018) in his native Netherlands that he thinks Ajax star Hakim Ziyech would be a success with Everton even if he has concerns about his game.
Ziyech, has been starring in the Netherlands for a number of years now, having thrived with Heerenveen and Twente before earning his big move to Ajax in 2016.
The Moroccan international – who should star at this summer’s World Cup in Russia – excelled last season with nine goals and 15 assists for Ajax, helping them reach the Europa League final against Manchester United.
This term, Ziyech has continued to be Ajax’s star man, as the playmaker has grabbed nine goals and 14 assists, seemingly earning huge interest ahead of the summer transfer window.
With Everton closing in on PSV Eindhoven’s sporting director Marcel Brands, he could look to land top Eredivisie talents – and according to the Sunday People (April 22nd, page 64), Ziyech is one of his first targets at Goodison Park.

Some Everton fans may be too familiar with Ziyech, but former Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has now offered his verdict on the 25-year-old attacking midfielder.
Koeman has told Ziggo (29/01/2018) in his native Netherlands that he doesn’t think Ziyech is a player for a truly top club, voicing concerns about his suitability in midfield and his ability as a team player, but feels he would thrive with Everton – especially if played on the right of midfield.
“You have to wonder if he is in the picture at the real top, I do not believe that,” said Koeman. “I do not think he can play in midfield in England either, so he’s going to play on the right, I think he can be good for clubs like Everton, I think he’s a good player, he has a lot of creativity in his game.”
“I was at PSV – Ajax, there he was playing on the right late on, where I found him dangerous and with a lot of threat. I wonder if he is the type of player who needs a team, but he does have great moments in his game and I do not see him as a midfielder abroad,” he added.
