The Blues moved into third in the table with a win over Sunderland on Monday.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman before the match
Everton manager Ronald Koeman has told Sky Sports that Europe is the target for his side this season.
The Blues were in impressive form on Monday evening as the beat Sunderland 3-0 at the Stadium of Light.
A superb hat-trick from Romelu Lukaku saw them to the victory but it was their all-round performance in the second half that many will be talking about.
The result was their third win of the season and took them up to third in the table, the club’s best start to a season in a decade.

The Goodison Park is now setting big targets faithful and Koeman admits that securing European football is their aim.
“I think we will be one of the teams that will fight for European football,” he told Sky Sports.
“That is a realistic target. If we play like we did in first half we will be 13th or 14th. The players are not stupid – they know what they can do.”

Based on their early season form, there is certainly no reason why Everton can’t finish in a European place this season.
Their summer transfer window is starting to look like a very successful one and they do have the squad that is capable of beating most on its day, especially with Lukaku scoring the goals upfront.
Indeed, if they can get the Belgian to replicate the kind of form he showed in this game, then it could be a very exciting season indeed.
