Everton manager Ronald Koeman has told the Irish Independent that he believes Seamus Coleman could become the best right back in the Premier League.

The Republic of Ireland full-back has been a regular in the Toffees line-up for a number of years after breaking into the team under David Moyes.

For many, he is by far one of the best signings the Scottish boss made during his time at Goodison Park, with the £60,000 Everton paid for him looking like daylight robbery with each passing year.

He has continued to impress since Koeman took charge this summer and the Dutch boss appears to have a very high opinion of the right back.

“He could become the best full-back in the Premier League, but there is a lot of competition for that title,” he told the Irish Independent.

“Full-back is such an important position in the game now because often, the most space in a Premier League game is in the wide positions and Seamus can give us so much when he goes forward.”

It will be interesting to see if Coleman can go on to establish himself as one of the best in his position in the league in the coming years.

At 28-years-old he is arguably hitting the peak period of his career and will be keen to take advantage of that fact under Ronald Koeman.

The Dutchman has shown his ability to develop right backs during his time at Southampton, with both Nathaniel Clyne and Cedric Soares impressing under him and Coleman will be hoping to enjoy similar improvement.
