Everton have won just once in their last 10 matches.

Ronald Koeman has refused to blame Roberto Martinez for Everton’s struggles this season, as per his comments in the Liverpool Echo.

Martinez’s Everton side fell apart towards the back end of last campaign, with their defensive vulnerabilities proving all too obvious.

Koeman has tightened up the Toffees’ backline since taking charge, but the Merseyside club have still failed to hit top gear this season.

Everton have won just once in their last 10 matches, and they have slipped down to ninth place in the Premier League table.

The Toffees were beaten 3-2 by Watford in their most recent fixture, which has caused a great amount of frustration.

However, Koeman has resisted the temptation to blame Martinez for Everton’s troubles this season, when asked whether the Spaniard was at fault.

“I don’t talk about the past! I don’t talk about the past,” he said.

“We need to deal with what the situation is now.”

Everton’s immediate attention will be on their match against Arsenal at Goodison Park later this evening.

If Everton are able to pick up the three points they could move up to seventh place in the Premier League standings.
