Everton have been linked with Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney in recent times.
Ronald Koeman has kept his cards close to his chest when asked whether Everton would be interested in signing Wayne Rooney from Manchester United at his latest press conference, which was broadcast on the club’s official Periscope channel.
Everton have been strongly linked with Rooney in recent times, after Jose Mourinho hinted that the striker could be set to depart Old Trafford.
The Toffees are said to be keen to offer Rooney the chance to return to Goodison Park to finish his career back where it started.
And, when asked whether Rooney was on Everton’s transfer wishlist for the summer, the Dutch boss did not deny the rumours.
“I think it’s not the moment now to talk about what will happen, or what we need or like for next season,” Koeman said. “We’ve just finished the transfer window – let’s talk about football at Sunderland.”
Rooney has been linked with a move to China in recent times, but there are question marks over whether he would move abroad at this stage of his career.
When asked earlier in the season, Koeman suggested that Everton would be interested in signing Rooney.
Rooney scored 17 goals in 77 matches for Everton when he represented them as a youngster between 2002 and 2004.
