Everton are unbeaten in the Premier League so far this season.

Ronald Koeman has refused to get carried away by Everton’s start and insists that his side’s task remains to compete for a top six spot.

While speaking at his press conference today, which was broadcast on Everton’s official Facebook page, Koeman was asked whether he felt that the Toffees could compete for a Champions League place this season.

However, Koeman was quick to bat away suggestions that a place in the top four is up for grabs.

“Why after the win last Monday, do I need to change from fighting for European football… now we need to fight for Champions League,” he responded.

“I think that’s not realistic. I think we can fight for Europe, but we need to continue and this Saturday is the next one.”

Everton are currently unbeaten after their first four matches this season, and they have looked very impressive.

The Toffees are stationed in third place, after winning their last outing 3-0 against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

If Everton do beat Middlesbrough this weekend, they could even move to the top of the table – should other results go in their favour.

Boro travel to Goodison Park on the back of a defeat against Crystal Palace, and it would be a shock if they were able to avoid defeat on Merseyside.
