Should Leeds United make a move for Everton winger Aaron Lennon in the January transfer window?
According to a report in The Sun, Everton manager Ronald Koeman could move on Aaron Lennon and Gerard Deulofeu.
It has been reported by the British tabloid that if Koeman is able to sign a new winger in the January transfer window, then he could allow Lennon and Deulofeu to leave Everton.
“The Dutchman is chasing a right-sided player when the market opens and is unimpressed with Deulofeu and Lennon, who could be loaned out or even sold,” adds the report in The Sun.
Lennon is a good winger and has proved himself in the Premier League, but over the past few years, he has not been at his best.
The 29-year-old seems to have lost some of that pace that made him so exciting and dangerous in his early years at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Englishman is struggling to get much playing time at Everton at the moment, and it would make sense for him to leave Goodison Park on a loan deal in the January transfer window.
Leeds United should step in and sign Lennon on a six-month loan deal in January.
The Englishman may not be good enough for Tottenham or Leeds, but the winger can certainly do a job for Leeds in the Championship.
The Whites are genuine playoff contenders at the moment, and signing a player like Lennon is certainly going to help them push on in the second half of the season.
Garry Monk’s side may not need a winger at the moment, but having a player of Lennon’s quality and experience is certainly going to enhance the strength of the substitutes’ bench.
Wages could be a problem for Leeds, but could that be overcome by persuading Lennon to return to his former club and guiding them back to the Premier League?
