Everton are set to take on Southampton at Goodison Park later today.
Ronald Koeman has told Everton’s official website that he will make changes for his side’s match against Southampton later today.
Everton are set to host the Saints at Goodison Park, in their third match of what has been a busy festive period.
The Toffees go into the match on the back of a 2-2 draw with Hull City at the KCOM Stadium, and Koeman has suggested that he wants to make alterations to his team to ensure that they stay fresh.
“It’s a really tough period of games for everybody but we know you can’t play three games in seven or eight days with 11 players – you need to do some changes in the team,” he said.
“It’s all about the freshness of the players,” Koeman said. “The boys showed really good spirit against Hull and we will see now what is the best team to start against Southampton.”
Everton’s failure to beat Hull in their most recent outing has caused some frustration, but they ultimately had to work hard to claim the point.
Hull had taken the lead twice in the contest, but an own-goal from David Marshall and a strike from Ross Barkley ensured that the points were shared.
Everton are now in seventh place in the Premier League table – three points ahead of their opponents today, Southampton.
When Everton met the Saints earlier in the season at St Mary’s, they were beaten 1-0 by Claude Puel’s men.
