Everton manager Ronald Koeman speaks highly of Leighton Baines.
Leighton Baines has been at Everton since 2007 and has established himself as one of the most important players in the team. Even at the age of 32, the defender remains a key figure in the first team.
The left-back is one of the best in his position in the Premier League and is going as strong as ever. The 32-year-old has featured in 19 league matches so far this season, scoring two and creating 22 chances in the process.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman has sung the praises of Baines and has outlined the importance of the defence.
“He’s really important,” Koeman told Everton’s official website. “It’s always a difficult position in the team, the left full-back position.
“Not all the teams have the real top quality in that position – there are some right-footed players.
“We are really lucky to have Leighton at a good level and at good fitness. He’s been one of the best players in the last few games.”
Everton are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with 41 points from 25 matches. The Toffees are unlikely to break into the top six, but ending up seventh would not be a bad season for them.
The Merseyside outfit will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on relegation candidates Sunderland at Goodison Park in the Premier League.
