Everton have a number of exciting prospects threatening to break into the first-team.
New Everton boss Ronald Koeman has told the Liverpool Echo that he could look to play the club’s youngsters more regularly next season.
Everton currently have a very exciting crop of talent breaking through their youth system.
The Toffees handed regular chances to the likes of Brendan Galloway and Tyias Browning last term, and they both impressed.
Everton still have Tom Davies, Mason Holgate and Matthew Pennington pushing for first-team places, but with Koeman having £100 million to spend in the upcoming transfer window there are some worries that their progress could be blocked.
Everton are having to deal with big expectations next term, as they look to qualify for Europe.
However, Koeman insists that he will play Everton’s youngsters – providing that they show him they are good enough for a first-team place over pre-season.
“I like young players because they are the future of the club,” he said.
“Sometimes you need to sign players but if we have that quality in your academy then that is the best way.
“I think pre-season is a fantastic period to use young players because for them it is a big opportunity for them to show their quality.
“And for the management staff it is important to know what kind of quality we have in the academy.”
Everton’s friendlies are due to start with a match against League One side MK Dons in July.
The Toffees are scheduled to return to pre-season training in the near future, when Koeman will have the first chance to assess his new squad.
