The Blues signed five players in the transfer window.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Everton manager Ronald Koeman has insisted he was happy with the work they did in the summer transfer window.
The Blues were expected to be busy after reports suggested Koeman had been given big funds by shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
That did not prove to be the case though as they instead ended the window £1 million in profit following the sale of John Stones to Manchester City.
Largely they were met with frustration in their efforts as they struggled to convince the big names to make the move to Goodison Park.
Some fans were also left frustrated by the work they did, but Koeman insists they signed some very good players.
“Overall, the transfer window was positive. We signed some very good players,” he said.
“I’m disappointed about the last target but overall I’m happy because the club did a very good job in the transfer window, the team is strong than it was.”
A closer look at Everton’s business does indicate that they may have enjoyed a better window than it would appear.
They have signed players who instantly improve their first-team and more importantly the areas of the side that many felt were weak under former manager Roberto Martinez.
Of course, there are some areas that still require improvement, but given the rebuilding job that was needed, the Blues can actually feel pleased by what they did manage to achieve.
