Everton manager Ronald Koeman has explained to the club’s official website why Leighton Baines did not feature at the weekend.

Baines did not play in the match, as the Merseyside outfit lost 1-0 to the Cherries.

Koeman has revealed that the 31-year-old England international left-back did not play due to a hamstring problem.

“Leighton Baines has a slight hamstring problem,” the Dutchman told Everton’s official website. “It was too risky to play him today. He might be back next Friday.”

Baines is an important player for Everton and has made five appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

Palace currently find themselves seventh in the Premier League table with 10 points from six matches.
