Everton have been linked with Manchester City-owned Torino goalkeeper Joe Hart.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman has suggested to The Liverpool Echo that he does not plan to sign a goalkeeper in the January transfer window.
Maarten Stekelenburg, who joined the Merseyside outfit in the summer transfer window, has established himself as the first choice between the posts for the Toffees.
Joel Robles is the second-choice custodian at Goodison Park, and Koeman has suggested that he is happy with the situation.
The Dutchman, who was appointed the Everton manager in the summer following his departure from Premier League rivals Southampton at the end of the 2015-16 season, has suggested that he does not plan to sign a goalkeeper in the January transfer window.
According to The Sun, Everton and Chelsea are interested in signing Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, who is currently on loan at Italian club Torino.
“I am happy with two goalkeepers,” Koeman told The Liverpool Echo. “I want to have a situation with three first team goalkeepers.
“That is the decision we need to make, but I don’t know if winter is the right time to make that decision for next season.
“I can’t do anything about speculation (surrounding Joe Hart). We are not doing anything about that at this moment.”
Stekelenburg is 34 years of age, but the Dutch goalkeeper has played well for Everton so far this season.
The former Ajax and AS Roma man is probably not a long-term solution to the Toffees’ goalkeeping situation, but for this season, he seems to have cemented his place in the starting lineup for now.
Everton are sixth in the Premier League table at the moment with 15 points from eight matches, just two points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
