Everton are currently in eighth place in the Premier League table.
Ronald Koeman has suggested to the Daily Mirror that Everton could make a move for a winger in January, following Yannick Bolasie’s injury.
Bolasie will miss the rest of the season, after seriously damaging his knee during the Toffees’ 1-1 draw against Manchester United.
The former Crystal Palace man’s injury is a blow to Everton, who had placed a lot of reliance on Bolasie to be one of their main creative influences this season.
And Koeman admits that Everton could look to move for a new wide-man at the next available opportunity, with some targets already on his wishlist.
“It’s necessary that we really need to sign somebody in that position, yes. But we are already looking for players to bring in different positions in the team because we think we need to be stronger from January,” he said.
“We are still looking for some good options and maybe it is more necessary now than it was before because we have lost Yannick for a long time.”
Everton are believed to be considering Manchester United’s Memphis Depay as a possible option in January.
Koeman has previously hinted that he is interested in Depay, but he was more tight lipped when asked about the Dutch winger at his press conference yesterday.
“I don’t speak about players or about rumours,” Koeman added. “We know January is coming up and every day there is a lot of speculation. We need to do our work.”
Everton are expected to have plenty of money to spend in January, after making only four signings last summer.
The Toffees are currently in eighth place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against Watford this weekend.
