Everton have been linked with a summer move for Gylfi Sigurdsson, with Ronald Koeman on the look out for additions.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman has told the Daily Mirror that he is desperate to add a goalscoring midfielder to his ranks at Goodison Park this summer.
Everton have had a productive first season under Koeman’s stewardship, but their lack of goals from midfield remains a concern.
While Romelu Lukaku has enjoyed a wonderful season in front of goal, no other Everton player has been prolific.
Ross Barkley is Everton’s second top scorer with just five goals to his name.
And Koeman admits that he is looking to add more goals to his side in the summer.
“We need to analyse what we need to score more goals, because the gap between Rom and the rest in terms of goals is too big,” Koeman said.
“We need players who will score between eight and 12 goals. Second top scorer is Kevin and Ross on four goals, we have nobody from midfield scoring 10 goals.
“We need more players scoring goals other than strikers. We talk about players who are really more productive than we have, that’s important.”
The description suggests that Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson could be on Everton’s transfer wishlist.
Sigurdsson is believed to have been tracked by the Toffees throughout the season, with Koeman preparing a bid (Mirror).
Everton’s chances of signing Sigurdsson could be boosted if Swansea do slip into the relegation zone this term.
Sigurdsson has hit 10 goals in all competitions for Swansea so far this season.
