Everton are open to loaning out Jonjoe Kenny, if the youngster can’t break into their first-team.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has confirmed to the Liverpool Echo that he could look to loan out Jonjoe Kenny this summer.

Kenny was in impressive form over the summer, as he helped England’s under-20’s win the World Cup.

And there were suggestions that Kenny’s performances in the international tournament would see him break into Everton’s first-team.

The Toffees already have Seamus Coleman at right-back, but there was a feeling that Kenny could become Everton’s first reserve in that position.

However, Koeman is seemingly reluctant to throw Kenny in to his team too soon.

And the Dutch boss has admitted that Kenny could leave Everton this summer on a temporary move.

“We know that we have several options for his position with Mason Holgate, with Cuco Martina and Kenny – and, finally, the best will play,” Koeman said.

“Of course, we are looking at the development of young players and what we did with Dowell was the best way to develop the player.

“And at the end of this pre-season we will take a decision: if Jonjoe is not really close to a position in the first-team then maybe we will think about what the best is to develop the player.”

There is sure to be no shortage of suitors for Kenny, if Everton do allow him to leave on loan.

Kenny’s tastes of first-team football to date have generally come on loan spells, with the defender spending time with Wigan Athletic and Oxford United two seasons ago.
