Everton have plenty of money to spend this summer, following the arrival of Farhad Moshiri.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman has admitted to the Daily Mirror that he is a big fan of Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Koeman was writing ahead of England’s disastrous defeat against Iceland last night, and he singled Sigurdsson out as a threat.
“Gylfi Sigurdsson, I like him,” Koeman wrote. “He’s a quality Premier League talent. He’s in a tough, competitive team but he provides that extra touch of quality.”
Koeman’s words ended up proving true, as Sigurdsson’s Iceland team caused England problems.
Iceland ended up knowing the Three Lions out, after beating them 2-1 in an embarrassing defeat for Roy Hodgson’s side.
Koeman’s comments also throw up a question over whether he could look to bring Sigurdsson to Everton this summer.
The former Southampton boss has masses of funds to spend, and will be required to enhanced Everton’s attack.
The arrival of Sigurdsson would be a very promising addition to the Toffees’ attack.
Although the 26-year-old would likely be in competition with Ross Barkley for a place in Everton’s team, he would provide real depth to Koeman’s midfield options.
Sigurdsson scored 11 Premier League goals for Swansea last season, which was greater than the total of Everton midfielder, and he would surely make a good addition for the Merseyside club – as they chase a spot in Europe next term.
