Everton have made a poor start to life in the Premier League this season, and sit in 17th place as things stand.

Ronald Koeman has stated to the Daily Mirror that it is obvious that Everton’s new signings are struggling because their team have made a poor start.

Everton spent big over the summer to bring in a host of new players, but most of their additions have failed to impress.

Everton have looked well off the pace, and currently sit in 17th place in the Premier League table.

There weight of expectation appears to be sitting heavily on the shoulders of the Toffees’ squad, with the mood around Goodison Park one of frustration.

Head coach Ronald Koeman of Everton is seen during a preseason friendly match between FC Twente and Everton FC at Sportpark de Stockakker on July 19, 2017 in De Lutte, Netherlands.

And Koeman admits that the pressure that is now on Everton to improve is not helping his new signings to settle in.

“I’m not the kind of man to come up with all kinds of excuses,” Koeman said. “But it is obvious the difficult start has not made it any easier for new players to fit in.

“It is my job to get things going. I’m not going to change everything here because of poor results.”

Everton are next in action this afternoon, when they take on newly promoted Brighton & Hove Albion.

If the Toffees can pick up the three points against the newly promoted Seagulls they will move into the top half of the Premier League table, which should help to reduce the pressure on the team and Koeman.
