Joel Robles is disappointed at Everton, according to Ronald Koeman.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has told the Liverpool Echo that goalkeeper Joel Robles is currently disappointed with his role at the club.
The Toffees moved to snap up goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg over the summer, with Koeman moving to sign a veteran stopper after Tim Howard’s departure to the Colorado Rapids.

Having worked with Koeman at both Ajax and Southampton, it’s no great surprise to see that Stekelenburg has started the season as Everton’s first-choice goalkeeper, and he’s certainly impressed in doing so.
However, the Dutchman’s position as the first-choice goalkeeper at Goodison Park means that Spaniard Joel Robles has been demoted to second choice.

A favourite of former boss Roberto Martinez having also worked together at Wigan, Joel was Everton’s first-choice goalkeeper for the second half of last season, and now has to put up with a backup role.
Ahead of tonight’s EFL Cup game against Norwich City, which could see Koeman rotate his side – and subsequently see Joel back in the side – the Everton boss has told the Liverpool Echo that Joel is ‘disappointed’ right now as he has lost his place as the club first-choice goalkeeper.
Koeman added that he likes stability in his team selections if players are performing well, but did suggest that he could change his keeper at some point this season.

“Joel is disappointed that he is not anymore the first goalkeeper because he played in the last three or four months,” said Koeman. “I like to continue with players who really like to do the competition with everybody. Maybe we will get a change in the goalkeepers. Everything is possible,” he added.
Joel’s long-term prospects at Goodison Park don’t look too great; The Sun reported over the weekend that Everton are looking to sign another goalkeeper in January – either Fraser Forster, Rui Patricio or Bernd Leno – and if successful, they would then sell Joel, meaning the 26-year-old may have to move on for first-team football this season.
