The veteran midfielder picked up his 600th Premier League appearance on Saturday.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman has backed Gareth Barry to continue playing for another two years, speaking to the Mirror.
The midfielder made his 600th Premier League appearance this weekend when his side took on Middlesbrough at Goodison Park.
It is a monumental achievement for the veteran, who only sits behind Frank Lampard and Ryan Giggs in the all-time standings.
There is every chance he could supplant the Manchester United legend at the top of that list, with the Welshman 39 appearances ahead at present.
Koeman can certainly see that happening, saying he believes Barry can continue playing for another two years.
“If the team is compact and he doesn’t need to run too much between the lines them he can play two more years at this level no problem,” he told the Mirror.
“He can’t do all the training sessions of course, but if you keep the boy fit, he will be very important for the team.”
If Barry continues in the form he has enjoyed so far then he will certainly be playing for several more years to come.
The veteran has been revitalised alongside Idrissa Gueye and is only second to the Senegalese midfielder when it comes to the likes of tackling, defensive duels and accurate passes this season.
If he continues to play a key role like that then there will certainly be no reason for him to hang up his boots any time soon.
