Everton are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table, after a bright start to the campaign.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman has admitted to the Liverpool Echo that some of his players are having difficulty adapting to his pressing approach.
Koeman demands that his sides win the ball high up the pitch, and it is a style which demands his teams have high levels of stamina.
Everton appear to have picked up Koeman’s style quickly, as their results have been impressive this season, but the Dutch boss insists that it is still a work in progress.
“For some players it’s difficult, if they are used to not pressing then it’s difficult for some players – for some it’s a big problem because they don’t know what to do,” Koeman said.
“So some will change their attitude and you wait, and finally you make up your mind yes, and no. It’s a mental aspect not fitness. It is about attitude.”
Everton have been below their best in their last two matches, as they have slipped to back-to-back defeats.
The Toffees first were defeated by Norwich City in the EFL Cup, before they were beaten by Bournemouth at the weekend.
The consecutive defeats have not dented spirits around Everton too much, though, as Koeman’s side have still made a very impressive start to the campaign.
The Toffees are currently in fifth place in the Premier league table, and if they are able to beat Crystal Palace later this evening they will move up into second place.
