Everton signed Idrissa Gueye from Aston Villa during the previous transfer window.
Ronald Koeman has told the Guardian that he doesn’t know how long Everton will be able to keep hold of Idrissa Gueye for.
Gueye was signed by Everton from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, and the midfielder has made a wonderful start at Goodison Park.
Gueye’s energy has caught the eye on Merseyside, and Koeman had nothing but praise for the 26-year-old after his latest performance in the Toffees’ 3-1 win over Middlesbrough.
“He was outstanding, he was perfect in every aspect of football,” Koeman said. “Yes, he wins a lot of the second balls and tackles but he also showed great composure on the ball – left, right and always trying to play forwards.
“He is a fantastic signing for the club and I hope we keep him a long time – but I don’t know.”
Gueye was relegated with Aston Villa last term, but his performances at Villa Park had caught the eye.
Everton paid £7 million to bring Gueye to Goodison Park (The Guardian), and he already looks to be one of the best buys of the summer.
Gueye’s partnership with Gareth Barry has been very impressive, and it has been a key reason behind Everton’s success so far this season.
The Toffees are one of three teams in the Premier League who are unbeaten so far, and they currently sit in second place in the table.
